CAMBRIDGE (CBS) — A Cambridge man is under arrest after police say he shot at a Cambridge police officer during a foot chase early Saturday morning.

Kai Robert Kruger, 21, is charged with Assault with Intent to Murder.

Authorities say an officer was patrolling the area of Brattle Street around 2 a.m. when he came upon four men. He reports one of them was acting suspiciously, and when the officer stopped Kruger ran across the street toward a construction site.

The officer chased him and as he got to the fencing around the site he saw Kruger at the top of some stairs turn toward him and fire a single shot.

The shot missed him and as Kruger turned to run he fell down the stairs.

The officer was able to disarm him and take him into custody.

Authorities say the other three men initially seen with Kruger reported that Kruger had robbed them. They were not hurt.
