Andover Beats Lowell In 8 Overtimes

ANDOVER (CBS ) -- Andover High won their football game Friday night, 88-to-82,  a score that seemed more fit for basketball than football.

In the eighth overtime, Andover quarterback Andrew Coke's touchdown sealed the deal against Lowell.

"My legs were dead and my face got really scratched up a few times," said Coke. "It's a game I'll never forget."

An unforgettable night for the fans as well, with the crowd glued to their seats for three-and-a-half hours, an hour-and-a-half longer than normal.

"I couldn't feel my feet in the middle of the game, but that wasn't gonna stop me," said Coke's grandfather Andrew Shea.  "And I'm sorry if anyone needed a hot drink or to go to the bathroom, they waited another hour and half before that happened."

"It's like a dream," said assistant coach Shawn Theriault.  "You wake up and say, 'Wow that could've never happened in real life.' And it did."

The dream is one that ended just after 10:30 p.m. with a burst of celebration in the end zone.

"Once I crossed the goal line and our whole team celebrated it really just brought our team together as a unit," said Coke.  "It's something special."

The Golden Warriors go on to battle Central Catholic High in a Thanksgiving Day game for the league title.
