Woman And Child Found Dead In NH Home

AUBURN, NH (CBS) - A mystery in the New Hampshire town of Auburn after a mother and her young son are found dead.

Their bodies were discovered in a home on Bunker Hill Road.  Her husband and another young girl were rushed to the hospital.

Assistant Attorney General Jane Young calls the deaths "suspicious", and says more will be revealed about the nature and cause of death when the autopsies are complete.

Investigators remained at the home into the night on Monday, blocking the country road as they widened their perimeter around the farmhouse in an intense search.

What happened inside the home to create a crime scene in the quiet neighborhood is still unclear.  "There is an adult female who has died, as well as a juvenile male.  Two other individuals were transported to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries," said Young.

According to neighbors, the home is rented and the occupants are not well known.

Investigators won't say how the bodies were discovered or when, but try to reassure neighbors.

"It does not appear there is risk for the community at large, but it's early on in the investigation," said Young.

Investigators say autopsies will be conducted on Tuesday.
