Politicians Asked To Leave, Move At Polls

HINGHAM (CBS) -- One politician was kicked out of a polling location Tuesday, and another was asked to move.

Rep. Niki Tsongas and Kitty Dukakis, wife of former Governor Michael Dukakis, were the two offenders.

Campaigning cannot happen within 150 feet of the polling locations by state law.

Kitty Dukakis was asked to leave from three polling locations in Hingham because she was too close.

Authorities say she was asked to leave the middle school, high school and Linden Pond polling location.

She was not soliciting for a candidate, but rather the Democratic Party.

Rep. Tsongas was in Methuen at the Tenney School when police asked her to move. She is running for reelection against Republican Jon Golnik.

Officials say she complied and moved to a new location.
