DJ Henry Memorial Service Expected To Draw 1,000 Mourners

BOSTON (CBS/AP) – Family, friends and teammates of Danroy "D.J." Henry are gathering in Boston to remember his life and legacy.

The Pace University student from Easton was shot and killed by police outside a Thornwood, N.Y. bar on Oct. 17. Police have said Henry sped away and hit two officers after a policeman knocked on his window.

Witnesses claim Henry was simply trying to move his car out of a fire lane and was no threat.

A special service for Henry will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Boston Convention and Visitor Center on what would have been his 21st birthday.

As many as 1,000 people are expected, including his Pace teammates and fellow students busing up from New York.

Henry played high school football at Oliver Ames in Easton.

His friends, former teammates and teachers will also be at the ceremony.

The memorial service, called "From Birth to Re-Birth," will feature music, photographs and shared memories from family and friends.
