Baker, Patrick Debate "No New Taxes"

BOSTON (CBS) -- Charlie Baker is pledging "no new taxes or fees" if he is elected.

Governor Patrick says he has no plans to raise taxes, but calls the pledge a gimmick.

Governor Patrick had made similar statements in his first election and then signed tax hikes into law, but he says that was before the global recession hit.

The Governor says he has made four times as many cuts as he has raised revenue.  He says he has made the choices that people elected him to help Massachusetts emerge from the recession ahead of most of the country.

Charlie Baker says the only way to pursue a reform agenda is to draw a line in the sand that says you will not raise taxes.
