Fact Checking Governor Candidate's Ads

BOSTON (CBS) -- Charlie Baker claims the Governor wants to raise your taxes.

He says it on TV, on Twitter, and in person. He even had a sign at his campaign event that said the Governor wants to raise taxes.

When we take a look at the facts: that's a misleading claim.

Governor Patrick has not released a plan to deal with the predicted $2 billion budget gap. He says he will do so in December after the final budget numbers are confirmed.

The Governor has said throughout the campaign: he has no plans to raise taxes in the second term.

GIVING CASH CARDS FOR BOOZE AND SLOTS = MISLEADING AD

Charlie Baker's new ad claims the Governor is giving welfare recipients cash cards for booze and slots.

When we take a look at the facts: that's another misleading claim.

The Governor is pushing to pass a bill to stop abuses of the cards, but he says Republicans are blocking it from coming to a vote for political reasons.
