BOSTON (CBS) — Cross-examination of the prosecution’s star witness in the federal corruption trial of Boston City Councilor Chuck Turner is under-way.

Turner is accused of taking bribes in exchange for a liquor license.

WBZ’s Mark Katic is covering the trial at federal court in Boston.

Defense attorney Barry Wilson is trying to discredit businessman Ronald Wilburn saying he mainly worked odd jobs and wasn’t really the night-club consultant he claimed to be.

During testimony for the prosecution Friday morning Wilburn said in September 2007, he was supposed to have a final meeting with Turner to give him 600-dollars and get the bribe on tape for the FBI.

However, Wilburn says he got nervous and lied about bringing the money when Turner’s secretary ‘asked’ him about it.
