1 dead, 1 hurt when minivan hits Whitman building

Fire officials say a man died and his passenger was seriously hurt when their minivan burst into flames after crashing into a real estate building in Whitman.

Fire Chief Tim Grenno tells WBZ the van struck a building housing Rosen Realty just before 6:30 a.m. on Friday.

The driver was in cardiac arrest by the time firefighters removed him from the car and was taken to Brockton Signature Healthcare Hospital, where he died.

The passenger was hospitalized with serious injuries.

No names were immediately released, though both victims attended Massasoit Community College.
