Connecticut woman pleads guilty in fatal Bay State crash
A Connecticut woman has pleaded guilty to charges in connection with a head-on crash that killed another driver in rural western Massachusetts.
Pamela Balsamo of Barkhamsted, Conn., will be sentenced Oct. 4 on charges stemming from the March 2009 collision that killed 29-year-old Erin Dufour of Tolland, Mass.
The 49-year-old Balsamo pleaded guilty Wednesday in Berkshire Superior Court to vehicular homicide while under the influence of alcohol; operating a vehicle in a way that endangers others; failure to stay in marked lanes; and speeding.
Police say Balsamo was southbound in the northbound lane of Route 8 in Sandisfield when she collided with Dufour's vehicle.
Judge John Agostini ordered Balsamo held without bail until her sentencing.
