
A civil liberties group says the Rhode Island Division of Motor Vehicles has agreed to settle a lawsuit over vague and misleading license suspension notices.
The suit from the state affiliate of the American Civil Liberties Union concerned notices from the DMV that told drivers their licenses would be suspended for unpaid fines. But the notices did not tell the drivers when the violations had occurred or provide any other information about the penalties.
The ACLU announced Friday that the DMV would be settling the suit.
