Bruins fall to Panthers in preseason play, 3-2
The Boston Bruins got a tough reminder of how good Dennis Wideman can be. The former Bruin scored what proved to be the game winner as the Florida Panthers beat the Bruins 3 - 2 in preseason action in Rochester, New York.
Florida's David Booth did most of the damage for Florida getting two goals in the first period. Booth connected on a rebound at the 8:47 mark, slipping it past the left post and Bruins' goalie Nolan Schaefer. The Bruins tied it at 14:28 on a blue line shot from defenseman, Steve Kampfer. However, Booth scored again on a give and go for a 2-1 lead after one period. Wideman scored on a power play goal 1:15 into the 2nd period to give Florida a 3 - 1 lead. Jeff LoVecchio scored for the Bruins in the third but they could not get the equalizer. Schaefer had 24 saves in a losing effort while the Bruins got 27 shots on goal.
Bruins are now 1-1 in the preseason while Florida goes to 2-0. Two teams meet again at The Garden on Saturday.
