The Red Sox opened their 3 game set against the Orioles with a 4-2 loss on Monday night. Daisuke Matsuzaka (9-6) went 6.1 innings giving up 4 runs on 6 hits he walked 5 and struck out 4. Matsuzaka has now allowed 4 or more earned runs in 7 consecutive starts.
Baltimore's Brian Matusz (9-12) tossed 5 innings of 1 run ball for the victory.
Victor Martinez had 3 of the Red Sox 5 hits and drove in 1 of their 2 runs.
