MA GOP shells out big bucks for Baker
The Massachusetts Republican Party spent nearly $675,000 on a recent pair of television ads to help support Charles Baker, their nominee for governor.
The spending helped deplete party resources, leaving Democrats with a significant fundraising advantage heading into the final six weeks of the campaign.
As of mid-September, the state GOP had about $423,000 in its state and federal accounts compared to more than $1.3 million in the coffers of the state Democratic party.
The GOP spent about $375,000 on an ad featuring Baker talking to supporters at Boston's Faneuil Hall and $300,000 on a second ad showing supporters of Baker talking about how they've "had enough" of Beacon Hill.
