Fine for stung Fall River city councilor

A Fall River city councilor arrested in a prostitution sting has been ordered to pay a $300 fine and attend an AIDS awareness class.

Brian Bigelow admitted this week to sufficient facts in Fall River District Court. That means he admitted that there was enough evidence to warrant a guilty finding if his case went to trial.

The 49-year-old also accepted a six-month continuance of his case. It will be dismissed if he is not arrested on new charges before March 15.

Last month, Bigelow was fired from his auditing job at the Bristol County Sheriff's Department.

Bigelow was charged in August with offering to engage in sex for a fee after he allegedly approached a female police officer working undercover as a prostitute.
