Excitement, entertainment, eats at the Big E

There's plenty of new attractions as well as many familiar sights at this year's Big E.

The Eastern States Exhibition, New England's largest fair, kicked off it's 17-day run Friday with Military Appreciation Day and Be a Kid for a Day.

Organizers are hoping this year's fair can surpass last year's record of 1.26 million visitors.

In addition to the usual livestock exhibits, cooking contests, midway and concerts, this year's Big E features for the first time the Musicians Hall of Fame, displaying musical instruments and other items from artists including Frank Sinatra and Bob Dylan.

The fair is welcoming back the Craz-E Burger - a bacon-cheeseburger served between halves of a grilled glazed doughnut - along with new food selections, including fried jelly beans.
