Stein says she's being blocked out of debate

Green Rainbow candidate for governor Jill Stein is protesting what she says is an attempt to keep her out of a Sept. 21 televised debate sponsored by a consortium of media outlets.

Stein's campaign received a letter yesterday informing her that she hasn't yet met the criteria set by The Boston Globe, WCVB-TV, WHDH-TV, WGBH-TV, New England Cable News and WBUR.

That includes having raised at least $100,000, having campaign headquarters with three paid staff and reaching at least 5 percent in an independent poll.

Campaign manager Daryl Sprague says Stein has met or is on the way to meeting all three.

Debate organizers say they will review the arguments and invite Stein if they are true.

Stein participated with Republican Charles Baker, Democratic incumbent Gov. Deval Patrick and independent Tim Cahill in a recent debate on WBZ-TV.
