The state’s top election official is reminding voters that the deadline is fast approaching to register for next month’s Massachusetts primaries.
Secretary of State William F. Galvin says Wednesday is the last day to register to vote or change party enrollment for the Sept. 14 primaries.
Anyone who registers before the deadline will also be eligible to vote in the Nov. 2 general election.
Contested primaries include the battle on both the Republican and Democratic sides to win the seat being vacated by U.S Rep. William Delahunt. There are also competitive races for state Senate and House party nominations.
Voters registered in a political party may only vote in that party’s primary. Unenrolled voters, known as “independents”, may vote in any primary.
