Yankee Candle employee killed in on-the-job accident

A 24-year-old worker at a Yankee Candle Co. warehouse in Deerfield has died after falling from a forklift.

The Northwestern District Attorney's office says Richard Tyson, of Springfield, was pronounced dead at a hospital after the accident, which happened shortly before 4:30 a.m. on Thursday. Authorities said he fell about 30 feet from the forklift and suffered serious trauma.

The district attorney's office and the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating.
