Chunks of concrete fall from Mass Pike overpass

Chunks of concrete falling from a Massachusetts Turnpike overpass in Southborough forced the road below to be closed for several hours.

Police said several drivers on Cordaville Road - also known as Route 85 - called after noticing pieces of concrete strewn about the travel lanes.

Police said no vehicles were struck and no one was hurt.

Route 85 was closed for several hours on Wednesday night while state engineers examined the bridge and removed some loose chunks from the underside of the bridge, which was determined to be structurally sound.

The turnpike was never closed and the incident wasn't expected to affect traffic on Thursday.
