Northbridge firefighter held on child porn charges

A Northbridge firefighter is being held without bail, charged with distributing and possessing child pornography.

William Davis, 33, of Whitinsville is accused of distributing images of young boys engaged in sexually explicit conduct to undercover officers over the Internet, the FBI and U.S. Attorney Carmen Ortiz announced on Wednesday. An investigation conducted by the FBI and the Northbridge Police Department alleges that Davis distributed the images on three separate occasions: October 2009, March 2010 and May 2010.

When officials asked Davis about the crimes, he allegedly told them he had been trading child pornography over the Internet for years. The FBI also alleges that Davis has in the past invited several minor males over to his house to spend the night. During the visits, officials said Davis served the boys alcohol and they watched pornographic movies together.

Because of the alleged sleepovers, he was charged with violating state liquor laws in 2005, but he has not faced child porn charges until now.  If convicted, Davis faces between five and 20 years in prison.  He's due back in court for a detention hearing next week.
