Milford man admits to killing wife

A Milford man has pleaded guilty to stabbing his wife to death.

Joseph Ventola pleaded guilty to second-degree murder on Thursday in Worcester Superior Court and was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole in 15 years.

Prosecutors say the 66-year-old ventola called police on Nov. 26, 2007 to report that he had stabbed his wife.

Police responding to the scene found 63-year-old Esther Ventola sitting in a chair with a kitchen knife sticking from her chest.

Joseph Ventola was originally charged with first-degree murder, but pleaded to the lesser charge under an agreement between his lawyer and prosecutors. Authorities did not disclose a motive for the slaying.
