Two motorcyclists are dead after a crash in Methuen.

Police say 35-year-old Matthew Phillips, of Wilmington, was riding a motorcycle westbound on Route 110 at about 9:40 Tuesday night when it crossed into the eastbound lane, struck a car and then collided with two other motorcycles.

Phillips was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the rider of one of the other motorcyclists involved died after being taken to a hospital. That person’s name was not immediately released.

The third biker sustained minor injuries.

Witnesses told police that Phillips’ motorcycle was traveling erratically and passing vehicles at a high rate of speed just before the crash.
