The Patriots have placed receiver Wes Welker on the active / physically unable to perform list today.  Welker can be removed from the list at any time.

Welker continues to recover from surgery for a torn left ACL in February.  The active/PUP list differs from the reserve/PUP list in that reserves must sit out at least the first 6 weeks of the regular season regardless of when they are removed.

Albert Breer of the Boston Globe reported that Welker’s addition to the list is part of roster management, and does not necessarily signal a setback in his recovery.
