State and federal authorities are warning hikers not to leave valuables in their vehicles at trail heads in New Hampshire’s forests.
State police and U.S. Forest Service special agents have investigated a number of thefts from cars in recent days. They also are asking the public to be sure to lock their vehicles.
In the most recent case, the door windows were smashed to gain entry. Electronics and cash were stolen. The victim had downloaded a free GPS tracking application onto his phone which led authorities to Berlin where police stopped a group of teens. Most of the property was recovered and charges are expected to be filed soon.
