South Shore Hospital is apologizing for a security breach.
A data management company lost computer back-files containing personal, health and financial information for 800,000 individuals connected to the hospital.
That number includes people who were patients there between January 1996 and January 2010.
Officials say they have no evidence that the information has been accessed by anyone, but they are advising individuals to keep an eye on their credit reports.

Isn’t this just great – I never liked this hospital and now data from a deceased parent who went to the hospital once is potentially in jeapardy. I don’t understand how a data management company can lose this information and I hope the hospital cancels their contract.
