After dismantling Lyoto Machida, many were left wondering who Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua would face in his first title defense.
Today, Dana White made it official.
In a conference call to help promote the upcoming UFC 114: Rampage vs Evans, White revealed today that the winner of the main event between Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson and ‘Sugar’ Rashad Evans would be first up for the newly crowned light heavyweight champ. It had been speculated since the fight that one of these two would get the first crack or possibly even Randy Couture, but it has been confirmed that one of the two former champs would get their shot at the belt.
