The franchise and transition tag numbers for 2010 have been released by the NFL.

If the Patriots and nose tackle Vince Wilfork don’t agree on a contract extension by late February, the team is expected to place the franchise tag on him.  It would cost the team $7.003 million.

Earlier today, former Patriots cornerback Asante Samuel, in an interview with The Boston Globe, said that the Patriots “don’t care” about Wilfork, and said that Wilfork should not feel obligated to show any loyalty to the team.
